Palayok remains to be a symbol of versatility and strength. In the early days, makers would make palayok out of clay dug from riverbed. They would form the shape through hand moulding, coiling, and the paddle-and-anvil method. They would burnish the surface with natural stones as the first step to seal it and make it watertight. They would dry their work under the sun, and then fire them in an open fire. It’s a long painstaking process but time knew that they would serve more purpose than what they’re intended for, and that they would live long enough to tell this story.

Description

This porcelain palayok bowl is a smaller version of the usual palayok/claypot, as it was specifically designed to serve rice, soup, and small dishes. It has a body size that makes it an everyday ware, and a lid that’s there to keep your food warm and enjoyable. If you’re not a fan of eating rice (like the potter himself), you’ll find that this piece can serve other food as well, like overnight oats, desserts, etc. If you get any leftovers, you can keep the food in the palayok and put it in the fridge, so no food is wasted.

For restaurants, the palayok bowl will be perfect for serving any dish that comes as part of a set.

Note that this piece is:
– Dishwasher-safe, though it loves being pampered with hands.
– Microwave-safe, though it could get very hot when heated for longer than 2 mins. If the palayok is coming straight from the fridge, give it some time to adopt to the room temperature before putting it in the microwave.
– Not intended for cooking.
